History/Mission

Park Academy, located on the beautiful Marylhurst University campus, is a small non-profit private school founded by Piper Park, a parent who wanted to give other students the opportunity that her son received by attending a school that addressed his challenges with dyslexia. Ms. Park's dream became a reality when she opened the doors of Park Academy in September 2005. Park Academy serves students in middle and upper school.

Park Academy empowers students with diverse learning challenges to reach their highest potential of giftedness while excelling academically and becoming responsible citizens and community leaders.

Students come from all over the metropolitan area and represent a variety of abilities, skills, and learning styles. The curriculum is developed around the research based Orton-Gilingham approach to instruction, including the Barton reading program. This multi-sensory approach reaches students' learning styles by addressing auditory, visual, and kinesthetic modalities.
